For everyone who thinks Taylor Swift is racist or selling out for having twerking in her new video, please keep in mind that there are white girls twerking in it too and the whole video is a reference to the 80s. Please stop being an idiot. Especially when there is ACTUAL RACISM IN THE WORLD.

transakura:

i just watched shake it off and tbh all i see taylor shaking off is her career

yeah, her career isn’t doing so well is it? i mean, it’s not like she’s number one on all the charts… and it’s not like the new single is already breaking records.. OH WAIT.

If you’re gonna criticise Nicki for the Anaconda video for it being sexy and for her shaking her bountiful ass, and piss about her having plastic surgery but not criticise Taylor Swift’s shameless use of black women as props and appropriation/mockery of black culture then just shut up forever and educate your whiny self

Please shut up forever and educate your whiny self for thinking that Taylor Swift did anything that you said above. She didn’t use anyone as props. She was not making a mockery of black culture. If anything, she was making a mockery of people who appropriate black culture. The video was literally just a collection of stereotypes from the pop industry and the literal only point of it was to show how bad she is at dancing compared to amazing professional dancers in many different genres. Black women were NOT used as props. They were skilled professional dancers. They were not only used for “twerking”, there were black women in almost every scene of the video.

people of color in Taylor Swift’s new video, “Shake it Off”

in other words, haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate

l0ve-after-war:

I didn’t find anything about Taylor Swift’s music video offensive. You guys just wanna be mad over the dumbest of shit when there is LITERALLY A WHOLE CITY TRYING TO PROTEST ABOUT THE OBVIOUS RACISM AND POLICE BRUTALITY AND THE POLICE ARE ATTACKING NEWS REPORTERS SO NOTHING GETS OUT.

But no, yall wanna be upset because some black girls (and white girls) were twerking in a music video. GET THE WHOLE FUCK OUT.

You wanna be upset? Be upset over REAL racism. Not this petty bullshit.

as-i-was-leaving-too-soon:

you didn't mean it, baby

l0ve-after-war:

I love how Earl Sweatshirt says Taylor Swift is perpetuating black stereotypes but… did you not see Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda music video?

Taylor Swift + albums and first singles

“I was listening to a lot of late 80’s pop, because I really loved the chances they were taking I loved how bold they were. So being inspired by that I started delving into the late 80’s - and what I found was that it was apparently a time of limitless potential. And the idea that you can do what you want, be who you want, wear what you want, love what you want - bright colors, bold chances, rebellion. The idea of that was so inspiring to me…but basically in thinking about that, and thinking about how this new album is a bit of a rebirth for me because it’s so now. I’ve never really made these kinds of changes before. And having been born on December 13th, 1989…this album is called 1989.”
